The Ashford Traditional Spinning Wheel

Comes with:  Scotch tension or double drive (Double drive has both options), basic spinning instruction booklet, threading hook, four bobbins and vertical lazy kate.

Left-handed model also available.

The Ashford Traditional comes as a kit wheel -- that is, unassembled, with illustrated assembly instructions.  If you would like us to assemble your wheel, we can do so, but you will need to arrange to pick it up from us, as the assembled wheels are not very "shippable".

Double Drive Flyer Unit for Traditional
Convert your single drive spinning wheel to double drive.  Consists of double drive flyer and whorl, 4 double drive bobbins, maiden bar, 2 uprights and knobs.  Ratios 7.5:1, 10.0:1 (14:1 bobbin lead).

Basic Jumbo Flyer Unit for Traditional or Traveller, Single Drive
Comes with jumbo flyer, one jumbo bobbin and front upright.  Ratios of 4.5:1 and 9:1. Now includes a bearing bushing so the new upright can also accommodate your standard flyer.

Jumbo Double Drive Flyer Unit for Traveller, Traditional and Elizabeth
For double drive models.  Comes with jumbo double drive flyer, one whorl, four jumbo double drive bobbins and front upright.  Ratios of 4.9:1, 5.7:1 and 9.6:1.  Now includes a bearing bushing so the new upright can also accommodate your standard flyer.

High Speed Double Drive Adapter Kit for Double Drive Traditional, Traveller or Elizabeth
Adapt your double drive wheel to high speed.  Comes with four high speed bobbins and a whorl with ratios of 14 & 17.5: 1 (22:1 bobbin lead).  Flyer not included.

Lace Flyer Kit, Single Drive
Fits single drive Ashford Traditional or Traveller wheels.  Includes ball bearings, 15, 20, 30 & 40:1 ratios, three lace bobbins, stretchy poly drive band, fine tuning brake band.

Quill Spindle 
Spin the traditional way.  Replace the flyer on your wheel and enjoy the ancient art of quill spinning.  Ratios of 14.0:1, 19.0:1, 26.5:1.  Fits the Traditional, Traveller or Elizabeth wheels

Traditional Distaff
This traditional spinning tool is used for spinning line flax (linen), but can hold any fiber for you.  Fits both single and double drive models.

Traditional Double Treadle Kit
Convert your single treadle model to double treadle.  It's also a complete treadle update for any older model wheel: new crank, conrods, treadle boards and more power.

Ashford Precision Lazy Kate
Unfinished, assembly required.  Holds three bobbins, with tensioning system to prevent backspin of the bobbins while plying (bobbins not included).   Length of rods from inside edge to to inside edge measures 4 3/4".

Turbo Kit
Stretchy Drive Band for single drive wheels.  Kit includes driveband material, instructions and joining block for installing the driveband.

Maintenance Kit
Essential parts: Oil bottle, threading hook, 13 flyer hooks, eye hook, brake band and springs, drive band, clip, connecting leather and two flexible nylon conrod joints.

Ashford Spinning Chair
Ideal height of 17" with comfortable back keeps spine straight and allows freedom of movement when spinning.
