BEAUTIFUL NETTING, Rita F. Bartholomew.
There are two methods used to tie the basic netting knot. Either method can be used with heavier materials, but the method use to tie the knot in netting with string/twine is not as easy to use with the finer crochet or tatting threads. This book only teaches the method that works well with the finer threads used in making laces.

Square Mesh Netting usually forms the background for net embroidery. This type of netting is also seen in volleyball, and tennis nets.
Circular Netting is used to create doilies, shawls, and lace edgings. This type of netting is used with both cloth centers and net centers. It is also used to make basketball nets, and shopping bags.
