The spindle known as the Portuguese Spindle is a tool that we find to be unique when it comes to spinning manually.  In a deceivingly simple shape, it packs a lot of features that are unlocked when one knows how to work with it.  Saber Fazer’s spindles are an improved version of the traditional spindles mainly used in the Minho region of Portugal

Description

The Portuguese Spindle is a tool that we find to be unique when it comes to spinning manually. In a deceivingly simple shape, it packs a lot of features that are unlocked when one knows how to work with it. Saber Fazer’s spindles are an improved version of the traditional spindles mainly used in the Minho region of Portugal.

Approximately 11″ long, it can be used with or without a distaff. This spindle features a meticulously hand carved screw at the tip that will allow you, if desired, to use it just as you would a drop spindle.

Hand-turned in Porto of maple or rosewood, by an experienced wood turner, it features a beautiful pear shape that will give it good momentum. Maple wood is a lovely off white, and Rosewood is a dark dense wood. Rosewood is available in solid color only (some pictures show two tone)

It’s small, portable, and undoubtedly the most elegant spindle out there.
