Description
The Schacht Inkle loom is built with years of heavy use in mind.
Schacht Inkle looms are great for start-up weaving programs because they require little additional equipment, are easy to understand and use, and are easily stored.
It has one open side for ease of warping. The tension bar has an easy grip handle for adjusting the warp tension during weaving.
Warps can be up to 4.5″ wide and 8.5 feet long. The Schacht Inkle Loom is made of hard maple and left unfinished. Comes with belt shuttle.
Weighs 6 lbs.
Inkle looms are well-suited for weaving long, narrow pieces, such as belts, straps, shoe laces, and handles. By seaming pieces together, you can also create wider warp-faced pieces for things such as coin purses, tote-bags, and pillows.
Traditionally inkle looms are used to weave warp-faced fabric (you see primarily warp threads on the surface of the fabric – the weft is predominantly hidden).
Inkle looms also work well for holding and tensioning card-weaving projects.
(the black knob on the tension adjustment has changed style to a wing style knob, different then the round knob you can see peaking out in the picture of the loom)
