Snyder Gear Spindles
An assortment of Gear Spindles from Scott Snyder. Hand turned in Wisconsin. These top whorl spindles are a delight to both look at, and spin with. The gear design on the outer edge guarantees a grove to catch your yarn and hold it in place while spinning. Custom made hook allows for the spindle to be balanced and spin well without a wobble. Rim weighted from the carved out area on the back of the whorl.
Large spindles are 10.5″ long from tip to hook with a 3.5″ whorl.
Small spindles are 8.5″ from tip to hook with a 2.5″ whorl.
Current hook style is dark brass color, and a more rounded style then the hooks pictured.
Weights vary from spindle to spindle. Small spindles run around .5 of an ounce, while large are mostly 1.1-1.3 ounces. If you want a specific weight, please message us with your preference and we will see what designs we have that weight in.
These are made from wood, so the colors can vary slightly, they all tend to a rich warm red/brown tone. The sides of the spindles are switching to a lighter color that matches the tops, rather than the dark color shown in most of the pictures. We have a mix of the two styles, so please let us know if the side color matters to you.
