Description
This combed top is 100% merino wool fiber at 21.5 Micron with a 2.75″ staple length. We offer this merino wool top in a wide variety of colors. Great for spinning, felting and wool craft projects. Spins up into a warm soft yarn, great for wet felting and nuno felting.

New Merino top colors!
Can also be used to make your own arm knitting yarn. We recommend adding slight twist to it before knitting, as it will make your knitted item more durable and last longer. Even with that, a blanket will not wear very well. After a few months it will be getting pretty fuzzy. If you have pets, cats or a microfiber couch you use it on the blanket will get ragged even quicker.
Approximately 24 yards per pound. Knitted gauge of 4 stitches and 6 rows to a foot. One pound will knit up to about 480 square inches. A cowl uses just under pound. A 4 foot by 5 foot throw would need 6 pounds.
For our cowl pattern, as well as how to add twist to the roving, cast on and join see this blog post.
We also offer Merino Top Samplers
The samplers contain some of every current color in the line of merino wool fiber! Colors do get dropped and added about once a year, so the number of colors in the sampler will change from time to time. We’ll keep that updated on the sampler page.
Visit this blog post for an example of a spinning/knitting project made from this merino wool fiber.
PLEASE NOTE: Each run, or carding lot, is much like a “dye lot” in yarns. The colors can vary from lot to lot; so be sure to order enough for your project at one time.

A dream to spin with. Colors are fairly accurate to what is shown and the wool is super soft.
