We know how it is. You start weaving, you love it. As you sit there passing the shuttle back and forth you start thinking of the possibility. What if you could use different thickness of yarn in the warp? That would be so cool. Well yes, yes it would be cool. As well as totally possible! Schacht offers this Variable Dent Reed so you can do just that.
The Schacht Variable Dent Reed is a rigid heddle reed with interchangeable 5, 8, 10, and 12 dent sections of reed. Each section is about 2-3/8″ in width (*see below), and you can mix and match these sections to create your own custom reed. The number of sections you receive varies with the length of the reed The overall weaving width will be slightly narrower than a traditional reed.
The hardwood top and bottom rails are finished with a rubbed oil. Metal bars create the side rails, and are attached with metal screws with black plastic knobs. This makes it easy to switch out reed sections between projects. Reed sections are plastic.
